“Shaun Augustin, CFO of the Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission, says demand for apprenticeships has been falling, but recently began turning around.

The labour market was balanced for some time, but it will take time to adjust to an uptick in economic activity and more jobs. Combined with an aging workforce, he expects that means more demand, he says.

A 2021 Canadian Apprenticeship Forum report said Saskatchewan would need 8,160 new journey-persons in Red Seal trades over the next decade to meet demand.”
